Hi guys!

Recently picked up a new flowerhorn for a really good deal. Tried to add it to my 110, which already houses a 10in Oscar, 7in festae, and 5in JD (which all currently get along with no problems forever). I knew bringing in a 5in FH was a big risk but the deal was good so I gave it a try. Long story short my Festae harrasses it non-stop so I moved it to my plan B tank. The tank is 3' across x 1' front to back x 2' foot high. approx 45-50 gallons. The flowerhorn is the only fish currently in the tank and yes the tank was cycled. My question is could the FH live in the tank long term? Thank you guys for the input and I will get pics of FH when I can!

The Flowerhorn could live in the 40-50 for a short period of time (approx 6-9 months), but as it grows you will want to put it in a larger aquarium to avoid any severe stunting.

The type/mix of Flowerhorn will determine its potential growth, feel free to post a pic.

Personally, I would recommend an absolute minimum of 75g (US) for an adult FH. Anything smaller may limit growth and strongly increase the likeness of developing illnesses.

Ok thank you for reply. Thats another thing I wanted to identify the type of FH. I will post a picture before the evening for sure. Thank you for your help and please check this thread later as I would love to hear your input

Too much for a female of this quality sorry to say but just my opinion. Also, dark substrate will not bring out its best color.

No offense taken thanks for the reply! I though I had a deal because most in this area are minimum 100. Also I thought dark substrate brings out colors best. What do u recommend? Also how do u know its a female? And what makes it low grade?

That's a pretty fh man. I would have paid 40 all day for her.
