The give away is the dark marking on its dorsal fin and at that size with minimal kok showing, I'd say it's a female. Can still produce quality fry...consider breeding.

Ok so ur saying she's decent quality then? Good pick up for price? And is tank size ok for life?

I'd say what its in is fine but bigger is always better. What you have is good size for breeding. Doesn't matter what I think or anyone thinks...if you like it, then it's a good buy.
 
Ok thanks. I know nothing about FH. Is this a particular type of FH strain?

That is a Female ZZ. The shape of the head and short length of the dorsal fin are indicative of a female. A female like the one you have can live comfortably by herself in a 55 gallon as they typically max out at a size of 5-8 inches.
 
Red gravel...Since no one else answered. I generally don't use gravel, but, it's just to simplify my life since I have a zillion tanks. The red gravel will bring out the red background colors of your red ZZ dragon. It will also not hide poop as easily!
