New FX5 Bio Media question

Hey guys, just got a new fx5. I plan on filling the 3 media trays with bio media only. How many boxes of fluval BioMax do I need? any input from those who have done it would be great...hoping to make only one trip to the LFS.

forget the fluval biomedia, see if you can get some of that Eheim Efi stuff online, much cheaper and works well.

dont feel like ordering online since the filter is at home waiting and the fluval media is much more accessible

yep!!

each basket holds 1500 grams, u will need three 500 gram boxes of bio max to fill one basket.

i use both Eheim substrat pro and the fluval bio max, their both very good bio medias. i don't know if one stands out more then the other....

6 boxes would be perfect.

I leave the top tray for other media. It's nice to have the option there without having to remove some of the biomax.

I used 3 boxes which had 2 be packs each, so 6 packets of bio rings.

My other fx5 has a mixture of fluval rings and eheim bio balls, and saporax rings. As a result of transferring existing cycled media to the new filter.

Just get a load of nylon pot scrubbers from a pound shop, just as good, and much, MUCH cheaper.
