Just get a load of nylon pot scrubbers from a pound shop, just as good, and much, MUCH cheaper.

Oh so very wrong. Just one liter of biomax will have more surface area then the whole filter full of scrubbies.

pot scrubbers are only good for wet dry sumps and are not the greatest submerged.

scrubbies SUCK in a canister. i had my FX5 full of scrubbies a while back, they get clogged so bad its ridiculous, and theyre hard to clean out. they only work good in sumps. i filled all three trays with ceramic media and have never looked back

i clean my ceramic media all the time, it gets super dirty and clogged. i dump all the water in the FX5 into a 5g bucket, and then dump all the ceramic media in there. i swish it around and take it little by little, knocking all the crud off of it. i have to do this about once every 3 weeks since i have lots of fish!
