I have found if you pack too much into them they clog the flow. A polishing pad should never be reused just give then a Max 2 weeks then toss them you will never get them clean. Also when I put my media bags or what not in the middle tays I always make sure that I leave some space around them. For example if they are skinny bags I place then in the filter in a cross pattern then place a fine filter pad(the blue one) on top of them. That way water can flow around everything and through it. I get two weeks out of my filter on my 125 gallon tank. Then I clean it.
