Yep I sure am. I am keeping the gar with 2 silver aros actually :headbang2

I will post pictures as soon as I can. They are about the same size and are doing great together. You don't think it's possible? Then I bet you don't think it can be kept with a huge armatus either huh? Well check this out...

A fellow MFKer keepinfish's tank:

So think what you wish, just because you don't/can't keep your gars with anything else doesn't mean it wont work for others. So of your gunna be negative then you can not post here.

Thanks. Oh and there are two gars that cost me $400. They came as a pair.

just because it has been done doesnt mean it should be. just dont come askin what u should do when they break thier back.

that size tank it might work for a little while but when they grow a bit more and things get more tight it will be all over. and is there any lids on them? i dont see one on the right side of the tank. that is bad with gar and with aro

Well this is a 250gallon that they're in. We actually have a 400gal cycling right now for them. And, Yes there is a lid for the other side we were just re-arranging the bogwood.

still even a 400 gallon when those silvers are 2ft plus.....

I know how big aro's get. Also the thing I love about the 400 is it long (10 ft) perfect for aros

isn't that 400 only 2' wide?

my previous tank. i was just offered this armatus again...but i passed on the offer because i did not want to risk my cubans.

almost any combo will work, what varies is how long it works for, and the condition of the fish in that combo. would you rather have 5 stressed out, torn up fish that could kill each other on any given day, or 1 that is in the best possible condition. it's really up to each person. for me, as long as it's not an unnecessarily large risk to my cubans i'm willing to try it out. but i wouldn't easily tell anyone to take a risk or assume that a combination of fishes are okay just based on what i observe in someone elses tank.

Yes the 400 is just a little over 2ft wide. That sure is a monster armatus. All I am saying is that MY arowanas and MY gar are doing just fine together. I dont see any signs of stress, no running into walls, no one getting spooked, no fighting over food. If I saw any sign of these things, I would seperate them. I am really sick and tired of people saying "absolutely no way is this going to work blah blah blah" when they probably tried it once and it didn't work for them. Oh and your cubans are awesome. I have never seen one in real life, do you live in the US?
