Thanks guys. I'd been hunting a cuban gar for years - Mike mentioned to me long ago that he had one in his display tank at h20 that wasn't for sale. Last week he emailed me letting me know the tank was going in a new direction and he was letting the gars go. The rest is history. :)
 
Thanks man. Yes it does appear I have a trop fetish. Funny thing is that they all came from NYC/NJ. It's like my secret stash down there.
 
Madding, I think its almost time for you too get some bright lights/good camera to show off the true looks of these beast! :D
 
Definitely need a new camera. I think the lights are okay. A third strip would help but is likely not needed since most of my fish like it dim anyways. Overall the tank still needs some work before I'm 100% happy with it, but unfortunately for you making it better suited for pictures isn't on the top of the to-do list. :P
 
lol so it was a cuban you were getting. i hate you now hehe. congrats on the new pick ups. im drooling over that cuban. did it really take years to get a cuban?
