New gas coming to your gas station; PAY ATTENTION... don't use it

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I read about it on snopes and it checks out, but I just wanted to get the other side of the story too (i.e. not fox news). I have an old car (1992) so this definitely applies to me, but then again E10 has never been an option for me either. The people should definitely be warned, and really the method of selecting this fuel should be idiot-proofed, but idk I feel like options are a good thing in general. And if new cars can run it then w/e. It's not like we're making more vintage vehicles.

Fox made it sound like it's our only option. Just remember people: you can still get fuel without any ethanol (rec fuel). That's what you should probably use in just about anything other than a car (such as lawnmowers, boats, etc...). So I say bring on another option as long as it doesn't force people to buy new vehicles.

I spoke with a rep for mazda that was talking about the different fuels a rotary motor can run on when they were running on hydrogen. Said they have experimented and ran them on diesel, alcohol, hydrogen, and even castor oil. Because of how basic a rotary motor is they are pretty flexible. It was originally designed as a water pump.

I usually fill up at a nearby Hess station.I went there today and low and behold there were stickers on the pumps that noted ten percent ethanol.

did the stickers warn of the risks?

E10 has been out for a while. The new one we're talking about is E15.

Basically if your car doesn't say "FlexFuel" on the back then just stick with the regular stuff.

Most all gas available these days (atleast in my area) is 10% ethanol. As Red Devil and I were discussing, it can be difficult to find non ethanol. I've yet to see E15 in my area.

The funny part about the E85 (and others) is they tell you how much cheaper it is to buy per gallon. They TOTALLY forget to tell you that your MPG will suffer and it actually is MORE expensive to use in the long run to the increased amount your car will consume.

I looked at running my last blower car on E85, but the added fuel upgrades and cost for my use wasn't worth it at all. I'll keep burning dinosaurs for now.
