I wish I could get all 5. My tank is a 120 gallon (5' x 18")...Too small for 6 Altifrons plus a crenicichla. Maybe I could get 2 more? That might improve my chances.

Well it's a decent size tank...6 might work even as adults. You can thin out later when a pair forms too...

I would get em all (if they are the same sp.)- geos are social and would do better and appreciate the company!

There's also the issue of price. At $60 each, these guys are not cheap. Anyways, I went back to the store today and exchanged the abalios for an altifrons. I looked over each one carefully and if there ever was a female in the group, I think I got it. Pictures will be up shortly.

Once again, thanks for all the help, especially you Peathenster, you were right from the start. I look forward to keeping Geo's and I'll keep you guys updated.

Ok, here are some pictures of my new pair (at least I hope so):

These guys are not the easiest to sex. But they are a pair, I think you got the f/m right.

They look awesome! In about 6 months I'll be getting a 180g so ill be in the market for some kind of geophagus. Keep updating so we can see what they look like as they age!!
