Hi there! Just got back into aquariums after an 18 year break. Used to own an 18" arowana and a 12" Oscar who lived happily together in their 75g for years. Just purchased a new 75g a week ago & it didn't take us long to also acquire a 2nd tank (55g). Currently, in the 75g, are 2 young Oscars (1 Tiger & 1 Albino), (1) 5" Pleco & (1) 6" Dragon Fish (Polypterus Palmas Bichir). The 55g is BW and houses our son's 2 very young GSP's. Looking forward to getting another 150+g to house my future arowana! I want another arowana! This is hubby's first tank experience & he's having a blast & I'm having to relearn everything. I forgot how much fun this is! Nice to meet all of you & look forward to being "schooled"!

Welcome to MFK but I highly doubt that an 18" aro was living "happily" in a 75g for years. Check out the arowana forum and you will find all the info you need. Good luck.

SW, welcome to MKF...

nomad, your response to her is like when I visit some church and some members introduces himself and then immediaely task the question have you being saved? It's rather tackless, even though your message might be correct.

ironically I posted this for another new user...

If you want a hazing ritual...just post "I got this cute 3 inch red tail catfish and an 8 inch silver arowana in a 55 gallon and the tank look empty, can I get some other fish?" :)

Anyway, I think you'll enjoy looking after your current tank...when going to look for arowana, maybe look for an Australian one...smaller than silver and much more aggressive.

Gee, thanks for the warm welcome. Nice to meet you, too. I'll delete my registration, when I figure out how, & find a friendlier forum.

Hi, and welcome to MFK.

I hope by finding a friendlier forum you don't mean one where the membership will tell you only what you want to hear or provide you with misinformation. This is a very friendly forum but an honest forum with some very experianced fishkeepers who will not mince words if they see somthing wrong or a situation detramental to the well being of the fish. What happens is the same mistakes are made by novice fishkeepers over and over and seeing the same thing every week you tend to become a littel jaded and frustrated with the situation but it's not personal. I hope you stick around there is a lot of great information be had if your willing to listen.
