man, this was a long time coming. made this thread 4 years ago, lol
spoilers
you guys already hit on some gripes that I had.
just about all the characters lacked any depth. the only one who got me feeling for him died too early in the movie, which was the guy from breaking bad as was already mentioned. only other character that wasn't weak and bland was the main character's wife, the olsen twins' sister. no other character had me drawn to them or had me rooting for them.
the movie itself blows the stupid 98 remake away big time. but that doesn't mean this one will be winning any Oscars. it was just ok
I left the theater unsatisfied and wanting more,........ a little disappointed too. Godzilla was actually well done. regardless of it looking a little different from what's in our childhood memories, this Godzilla looked and felt like godzilla to me. I got no qualms as far as his looks. I got chills when G made his first full frontal appearance and roared. and then like stated already, it was a let down immediately after that.
they didn't even show a fight. just showed a little 2 second clip of them fighting on the small tv the kid was watching. but the monsters themselves were done really well. the way they moved, the way they looked,.......... the mutos reminded me of the cloverfield monster
last fight scene made up for it, but I didn't like the deaths of the mutos. was not satisfied over all with the fights. they build it up all movie long, gave us glimps, then gave us a good fight but G killed them too easily, I think. both deaths came out of the blue and lacked a good climax. they were kicking his ass, then bing, bing he kills them.
what was lame to me was, the military plan was to lure them to open ocean with the war heads. then warheads got jacked, lol. that plan was over before it even got started, haha
two greatest moments in the movie was when Godzilla first made a full frontal appearance and roars and the other moment was when he first did his atomic blast
