The geophagus was labeled as Altifrons, which I'm really hoping, but I'm not very good at ID'ing them when they're small.

The severum is my first, and is about 2.5" long. The geophagus is about 2.25" long. What do you think?

Probably gonna have to wait till it gets a little bigger to tell. It may be a Gymnogeophagus species?

I think you should not buy from this person/place again ;) Definitely not a G. altifrons.

What can you expect for $7 at an lfs? I figured if it was, great deal, if its not, I still like geophagus. They've had some rare species before for pretty cheap prices (I think they didn't know what they had).

So if its not an altifrons, can you not id it yet, or just didn't want to?

Actually, it sure looks alot like a juvy altrifrons to me ... :naughty::grinno:;)

And that sev has off the hook color.
