So, we had this 75 gallon tank which had a Betta in it. We were on the lookout for a really special Tiger Oscar, but we saw this guy first and I fell in love with him. He's about six or seven inches long. We wanted a really special fish, since our intentions were for this tank to only have one fish, and I think we found what we were looking for! (Don't worry, the Betta went back into his 5 gallon before we put the GT in!) :D

Nice Silver Saum

I never had a white saum but if they're as interactive as my former gold saum you're going to love him. And they're way better looking than an Oscar imho.

Thanks all! Also, I have no idea what the "silver saum," "white saum" stuff is... I'll have to go research those terms and learn something new! :D

He looks excellent.

The fish you own is a Andinoacara Sp. Silver Saum

Its a type of false Green Terror

The other common type is Andinoacara Sp. Gold Saum (like in my sig) which is probably just a colour morph of the same fish...its basically the same thing but with Gold tips to its fins instead of Silver (white)

The true Green Terrors are rarely found (Andinoacara Rivulatus) which are basically the same thing just less colourful...hence why not found commonly.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I read when I researched. Thanks for confirming! :D At least I know what to call him now. Obviously, the LFS had him labeled as "Green Terror," which I now know is not at all uncommon. He's still settling in, though, and he refuses to eat in front of me! I have to throw a few pellets (feeding Cichlid Gold and Cichlid Excel), leave the room, and when I come back, he's finishing the last one. Hopefully, he'll settle in soon.

Yeh when i got mine i rang and asked if they had any 'Gold Saums' and the dude said 'what are they?' and i said 'Green Terrors.....the ones with the Gold Tips' and he said....no...we just have Aequidins Rivulatus....i said i doubt you have, and he argued the point with me...so i said ok, i'll leave it then.

So i go in tehre on the off chance and they have a mixed tank of Silver and Gold Saums...so said can i have 6 Gold Saums please...and he said...no...we only have Aequidins Rivulatus.....*sigh* i said listen mate...i wnat the ones with the gold tips....Andinoacara Sp. Gold Saum....so then he gets into a heated debate with me that there is no such thing...so i ask to speak to the manager...and he tells me he is the manager....lol....and this is the only shop locallily that does them, so i say ok mate ...I'll have 6 of the gold ones.

And he bags up 4 silvers and 2 golds.....

By that point i had had enough and bought them....he did however say i coudl get a full refund on the ones that don't pair off...

So i get them home for a about a month....lukily my 2 gold saums paired off and the silvers didnt...so i bagged them all up...rag him to tell him i was brinign them back...he said thats fine...so i drive 60 miels back to the shop...

...I get there and he tells me...no i cant refund them because they are silver saums and i sold you 'Aequdins Rivulatus' hahahahahahha! but...he would give me £5 for the 4 i brought in....now he sfould of been giving me the full £24 refund...

...Now im a big dude....and im bipolar...so after ten mins of telling him what i was going to do with him he eventually gave me my money back and i left lol!

Anyway...totally off topic but a funny story about the confusion of Green Terrors and naive LFS workers.
