i just went and got a GT from my LFS. they have never had anything better then a jack dempsey. but anyway i say them and had to have one. i was told that sometimes you will end up getting a Gold Saum rather then a true Green Terror. what do you think? i will get some pics up in a couple minutes. i have to take the pics with my laptop cam so ahead of time sorry for the bad pics

here are the pics of him, again sorry for the crappy pics. i will try to get better ones later.

A "true" green terror is a different fish, very uncommon, the common name "green terror" is almost always applied to the gold saum.

he's in a 55 gallon tank now. i took those pics when he was in the 29 gal. what do you think, do you think he would be ok in a 55? if not i have an unknown gallon tank setup with my oscar and pacu in it now.

he should thrive in a 55G for some time, at least until he hits 8" or so . . . you've more than likely got a Gold Saum, but that is a fine fish and they can be real beauties when full grown . . .

No such thing as a 'true' green terror. There are three fish that are regarded as green terror. You have the gold saum which is the most common of he three. When people say 'true' they should be saying original. And what they are referring to is Rivulatus.

I think you might be on to something here. it definately makes more sence than the true/false GT labels.

At any rate, it's not likely an Aequidens/Andinoacara. rivulatus. They have been sold recently thanks to Jeff Rapps, but are still quite rare in the hobby as has been mentioned. The Gold Saums are the most common of the three GT species but you'll have to wait untill he starts showing some color around the edges of his dorsal, caudual, and ventral fins to be certain which one you have. They are virtually identicle when they're tiny.

he has a fungus on his lips that has spread to his eye. do you guys think pimafix will help rid of the fungus? it worries me because he's so cool but i do not want to loose him
