So I had this empty 20 gal planted, and my LFS had like three 1" Green Terror Cichlid. Less than $4 each! I got one:headbang2
SOOOO COOL
Just had to share my joy. Cant wait to watch him grow!

Any tips as far as tankmates would be apreciated.
Jacob

This is the right place for Green Terror postings, yes?

Isn't this a fairly common price?

Unless you can get him at least a 55 gallon for himself, return him. They get 10-11"+

No tankmates for him in a 20, because he cant stay in a 20. I reckon he should be okay for a month or two in there, but after that he might start to be stunted.

Always do research before you purchase a fish. If you hadnt posted here to "share your joy" than you would have a stunted, sick cichlid.

Oh and BTW even in a 55, tankmates will be limited, after 6" they can get very agressive.

GT's are super slow growers, he can stay in the 20 for a while, but he will eventually need at least a 55gal to be comfortable

as it was stated, they grow large, 10-12 inches

This I know. people always jump to conclusions. He is in 20 because he is only 1"!
will have his own 75 when he gets bigger!
Dont mean to sound rude, but you guys should try asking the person if research has been done before you start scolding!!:irked: :irked: :irked: :irked:
I KNOW they get big I KNOW they get aggro, Why do you think I am asking advice?:screwy:
I trust experiance over something I read anytime!!!!

Just an example=

Irecently read on one of these fish sites, that Tire Track Eels only get 10-15" long!
someone with experiance told me they can get 3 feet (36")!!

I dont always trust what I read.
Thus I ask for experiance!

There is no need for him to return it, it's only a juvenile.

A 20 gal is fine as a growout tank but I would avoid adding tankmates ;)

My LFS has RDs that are the same size, would one of those work as a tankmate?
BTW I plan to have him in a 75 before the end of January.

Sorry no pics. No camera yet. Spending all my money on fish & accesories!
Fish live like kings...
...I live like pauper:screwy:
Gonna see if I can borrow my friends camera and get some pics for y-all!
