what i WILL do to keep Foster alive is: insulate the window in the bedroom, put a blanket over the top of his tank to keep the heat from escaping, have the hot blooded dogs sleep in the room to keep the temp up, and i will keep the bedroom door closed to keep the body heat from the dogs in the room.
what i will NOT do is turn on the heater in the house (actually i can't, it's broken), i will not buy another heat lamp that will drive my electricity bill up $100 per month.
for then entire summer i managed to run 8 aquariums, 4 chest freezers, 2 refrigerators and the tv, computers and lights as needed for $200 per month. i turned on Foster's daylight, not even his heater when it started cooling off and my electricity bill jumped to $300.. i turned it back off.
when it cools off at night the american bulldog, the naked akita and my pit bull sleep in the room and it stays a comfy 80 degrees in the room. but there is going to be a time in the coldest part of the winter (probably in Feb or March) when that isn't going to be enough to keep him alive.
