New Gulper Cat

Abyss, what do you feed your fish? I have 3 at 4 inches. I was wondering if I need to stuff cichlid food pellets inside of shrimp to get them a balanced food.

Rays of Sunshine - that was something suggested to me too. I haven't done it yet but might do eventually.

I've been feeding them on a diet of frozen Coly fillets and king prawn for ages now. They destroy king prawns even when they are full, they love them. They have recently 'gone off' the Coly though, refusing to take it sometimes. I should have been giving them more variety I feel as everyone says that is the key. So I've got them on Rainbow trout and their beloved king prawns now. Will keep mixing it up from now on. I'm only feeding once a week but with yours being a bit smaller (mine are about 7-8" each) I think they might require more frequent feeds.

I got one from Jeff Rapps as well and it is such a cool fish!
Mine is eating feeder guppies, goldfish and ghost shrimp.

BUT, should be kept in a community with other gulpers, not alone.

I was under the impression they sometimes eat each other even when well-fed.

I think that might be a problem with vastly different sized Gulpers but when same size the way they puff up as a defense prevents them eating each other, even if they'd like too.

Mine do bite each other though. More playful thany anything, although I've seen a few 'what the hell was that *****, you bit my ass' moments.
