I did this, and was able to get a consistent variation that you didn't see in stores. Nice as they were though, and "rare" as they are (given that Im the only breeder of them) they still don't get me any more money than another nice guppy. It's fun and everything, but even if you get something spectacular in the end it's still a guppy .

means both my yellow and black female and my male is in the pic

The possible problem is that the females you bought could be storing sperm from the males at the LFS. Doesn't sound like selective breeding to me...

yes i understand that they could be storeing that is why i don't expect the first few batches of fry to be mine

where i did u get the guppies? if u just hand picked them out of a tank labled fancy guppies you might end up with just mxed color tailed babies. The parents of those that u have may be just fancy mixed guppies, and it might go back a bit, and each female might have mixed parents too. Unless u pick out a male from a specific group like tequila sunrises, blue , green cobra...ect fancy males and fancy or plain females will just give u fancy mixed babies. some might come out like dad but who knows when. Best bet if u really wanna breed a specific strain is to find an actual pair or breeding trio.

the femailes that i piked out came out of a batch of metalic lemon guppies that and the half balack and yellow came out of a tank labeled half black guppies

Good luck with your project... Breeding Guppies is fun at first because is happens so fast... but then becomes a pain in the arse .. because it happens so fast LOL
