Look for silver eyes. Reds will have red eyes, unless something changed.

What else? Obviously in adults they'll most likely be bigger then reds. Eye color, humeral spot if it's still there and the face shape?

I'm going to opefe.com to help myself out right now

aside from the eyes the head shape and body shape will be different, usually the fins of caribes will still stay pretty bright red as compare to rbps, at least all the ones I've seen are like that.
caribes will have a more silverish body, maybe greyish silver. and brps are more like bronze color, or dark grey color or something alone the line. just look at lots of pictures of adult caribes and reds you should know what to look for.

nice setup you got there. Welcome to MFK. Can't wait til the little fellas in my 220 grow up like that.

The largest Caribe (usually to the left in my pics) has dug a pit a few times and turned really dark, almost black. Then another will turn dark and they start fanning each other but I have never seen eggs or fry. When I had a 120g RBP they did the same act and it always resulted in fry. Had more than one breeding pair in that tank but never the Caribe. The Pirayas get dark and fan from time to time but I've never seen a pit from them. My next water change is going to be bigger than usual and I'm going to put colder water in. Gonna try my best to time it with a thunderstorm. If a pit is dug I will pay more attention to their vent tubes.

If interested I posted pics of a few of my other fish in the "Introduce Yourself " forum. Thanks

post them in the "photo lounge" so that annoying auto-bot thing does not move them around.

I'll remember that. Working off me cell phone. My computer crapped out on me. What's the auto-bot?
