I finally rebuilt our moving bed bio-filter. I didn't shoot any pictures of that process, unfortunately. BTW, we have culled another five monster fish from our 2600 gallon tank. Still, the poo is piling up on the bottom and the lily shelf, which I also cleaned yesterday with the byproduct of another 20% water change.

I tried to drain the MBBF, but it was not siphoning. I am begging to regret not having build a floor level drain hole through the masonry walls. It turns out that wasn't the issue. The drain on the MBBF was clogged with fish poo. Time to
I've never been able to drain it, because I hadn't taken Scotty432's advice and built it properly.
My excuse is I have too many projects. Water quality tests keep coming up with .25 nitrates Nitrites and ammonia also very low, so I never dealt with the improperly functioning MBBF. Not that I did it properly yesterday either. I did however take it completely apart and rebuild the inflows and outflows with a perforated pipe on the drain so the K2 doesn't get out. I shortened the outflow and reconnected the perforated pipe which has been doing a good job of keeping the K2 out of the sump. This repair gave more room to get the perforated air ring down in the bottom of the MBBF. Getting the MBBF out was a minor nightmare which could have been avoided if I had given just a little more room in the greenhouse for the RFF and MBBF filters.

We had a nice little 1 pound trout for dinner last night. Baked with lemon pepper and lemon. Delicious it was. I guess we're down to 30 Brook trout most of which I also guess are around a pound. Our digital scale displays the mode so small, I can't read it. I wonder if what I thought was a kilo wasn't in pounds mode?
It doesn't matter, what does is one fish even the smallest is a meal for two!

We took a nice break this morning, but got going around nine or ten. The biofilter took a long time so I finally got out in the rock pit excavation project around four. These pictures are the accomplishment out there.

Trailer isn't full but I'm happy to bust and load this amount in four or so hours.

That wheelbarrow is putting the hurts on my hips and feet something fierce. Plus, we got a rain/hail storm that has all that dirt weighing in at an uncomfortable level for my old bones.
The depth of the Limestone rocks is almost all the way across at the level it needs to be to keep this floor at the same height as the other floors in the house, because damn, I think I'll need a wheel-chair if I make it to 70.

Dogs don't much care for all the banging. They are happier when I'm done.
