just want to point out, that 84 gallons of drippage a week is not a 67% water change, because your overflow from sump is removing both old and new clean water, not just old water

Actually now that I'm thinking about it more... how exactly does one perform a true 50% weekly water change then? Curious to see how anyone could segregate out only removing "old water" while still leaving the "new water" intact. :nilly:

I also still perform bi-weekly manual 35% WC's too especially while I'm still green to the hobby and this setup.

Not too many good pics anyways yet, still renovating basement, finishing tank cycling and setup. Need to work out some design ideas for stand / canopy coverage and access as these are being basically built into my wall, but only accessible from the front side. Aquascaping is hit or miss at the moment too. definitely not up to par with the tanks I've seen on here! Still a fun WIP!!!

i just siphon out half the water from the tank with the python and then re-fill. my filters are fluval FX5. right now i'm doing it every other day though cause my 10 inch pacu is in a 50g, it's ridiculous. i've been waiting nearly 2 months now for my 350g Tenecor tank.. supposedly it shipped last week. That's what i am told. The plan with that one is to siphon as much water as possible out every weekend without making the fish sideways, then refill to the top. Continuous drip system would be better, I'd think, but would need to change more water to keep clean, due to removing clean water and dirty water indiscriminately.

Thought I'd post some pics of the work in progress:

150, 125 and utility sink. As you can see I have my hands full with the whole basement renovation still.

I'll try to get some more updated pics soon to log progress.

Sorry, used inline images and looks like I had the photo album set to private. Now changed to public, hope that takes care of it...
