WOW just had my big male and one female molt. Guess there are doing ok in the 40 gal tank.
Y`ll prob right constantly changing cleaning HOB filters. Way overloaded. Pacus` aren`t getting much bigger. Still trying to get big tank done but is intheway of all the other honey does.
Do ya think a clam/mussle would help?

Update, small tank lost two crawdads during molt from larger one. The single pleco is growing. Feeder fish are growing too. Big tank has the pacus and the other placos. There still are five feeders and five large crawdads.
Madly working to finish up all projects so can get to work on bigger tank. I hope that I can build the big tank of the size that I need. I think that a 4x4x8 would be about as big as my living room will stand. The only problum is don`t know what size to make the filter(s). Guess will figger that in time.

Pacus are crazy. If they stop growing its typically because of ammonia in the tank or under feeding. Just saying I got one at 1" and grew it to 12" in just over a year with near total neglect. It then got fed to a snaping turtle.
