I just got my first poly today. Senegalus. You can see he has a big belly alreadyImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1393132851.723304.jpg. He cleaned out a pile of bloodworms. I'm glad I got him in the grow out and he ate already. I've heard they're kind of lazy and don't move much but he's been cruising all day. Even comes up to the glass when I'm in the room. I have a feeling I'm really going to love this guy. Anything I should know from the pros out there?

Senegals are one of the most active polypterus species, very good at recognizing you and coming for food.
Make sure they have hiding spots or tubes to play in!

senegals are one of the most active polys so you will often see him cruising the tank. for the little guys you'll probably want to feed 1-2 times a day until he's about 4-5" then make it either 1 time every day or every other day. He'll probably like bloodworms, brineshrimp, black worms, shrimp pellets, and cut-up massivore when he is young. When he gets older he'll like all that stuff but it may not be as filling so you'd probably want to up the amount you feed of those things or you can also start feeding earthworms, silversides, tilapia, catfish, and larger pieces of massivore theres others things I'm probably leaving out because there is so much stuff. Also try not to keep it with plecos as they tend to suck the polys slime coat off making it susceptible to infection which could end up being very bad. Hope you enjoy your little guys and if you have any questions feel free to ask :D

Nice pickup, Dr Bs got the bases covered, also low lighting and floating plants help boost activity I've found though you'll have no issue w/ that and a Senegal lol

BTW welcome to the addiction lol
