New here. I need assistance in DIY large aquarium.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
like with normal smaller tanks, the plastic around the top and bottom brace the tank and give extra support. you would need to brace the top from front to back in the middle of the tank.
if you are using 1/2" thick glass, these are your dimensions:
bottom panel 72x36
front/back panel 72x24
sides 35x24
Mk. how about if I want to make the tank either:
7feet longx 27inches widex2ft tall.
or :
7ft long x 25inches wide x 2ft tall

I just want it to be able to fit through my door.... My door is exactly 30inches wide and almost 6ft tall. But since its in my basement which is my room which is down stairs i can manage to get the tank through. But wondering how much is it going to weigh?

what will be the exact dimensions for what I said above? Enough room to let me put it up without needing an inch of glass or something.

Thanks btw.

no wood is water proof. using plywood, whether birch, oak, maple would be fine. 2 part epoxy is waterproof and yes you would build a plywood tank, coat it in epoxy and install the glass using aquarium sealant. there are a ton of threads that show you how to do it. where are you located? I could build a tank for you if you were closer...

84x27x24
bottom panel 84x27
front and back panel 84x24
sides 26x24

84x25x24
bottom panel 84x25
front/back panels 84x24
sides 24x24

Thank you! Btw. Do you know what is the strongest and CLEAREST glass out there? One that has the best clarity out there? As well as durability? Idc for price regarding the glass. Since I'm just making a diy plywood glass tank.

tempered glass is the strongest and glasscages sells starfire glass which is supposed to be almost as clear as acrylic..
