Hi everyone,

I'm looking to replace my old Cyprio filter. My pond is right around 1000 gals. and I've had it for about 16 years. I've had the Cyprio filter for at least 10 years and it's really showing signs of it's age.

My pump is a 1/4 hp sequence and it still has a couple of good years left in it and I have an external UV light. I'm not very familiar with the pressurized filtration and would like to know more about it.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice that you can give me.

Larry

Here are a couple of pics of my pond and one of my pump/uv/filter system.

What's changed that you don't just rebuild it?

Cyprio Bioforce 2000 UVC.

Laguna Pressure Flow 1400.

HydroMAX PRO.

PondMaster Bio-Matrix 2000.

I'm not sure I understand the question. The old filter has a small leak that will only get worse as time goes on, that's why I want to replace it. I haven't looked at pond filtration in quite a while and didn't even realize that the pressurized systems were around or if my present pump would run one. I guess I'm just looking at the pros and cons of both.

GREAT! pond btw!

Thanks!

I originally built it with a liner in '92 and then put in the lower fiberglass lagoon in about '95. The top muffin waterfall wasn't added until a few years later and then finally the fountain. I had 6 big (16' - 18') koi that I lost in '04 and almost didn't restock it.

What did you restock with?

A large pressurized filter should work pretty well on a pond your size with your pump. You can bury them which is the major advantage. Since you don't kneed UV I would recommend going with the largest unit your budget will allow. Also if it were me I would look for one with a back flow feature so you don't need to take it apart for cleaning as often.

Here are some options:

Koi. But inexpensive ones this time. I had a Shusui, a Kohaku and a couple of other really nice fish. It really hurt to lose them after having them for 12 years. It took a while to get over that.

Thanks! I have been looking at those types of filters.

You stated " I've had the Cyprio filter for at least 10 years and it's really showing signs of it's age " But you answered the question.

If you've got the height, gravity return is easier to work with (anything pressurized will at some point leak :(.

Anybody have any knowledge or opinions on this filter?

I like the feature of being able to clean it without opening it up.

It was why I suggested it
(Laguna Pressure Flow 1400). I prefer W/D filtration whenever possible, but have & do use pressurized systems too.
