Hello everyone.
I joined up here because I plan on starting a planted tank and found good threads on the subject during a search.
I am a reef keeper atm and pretty much build everything myself. I have a frag tank that I made a few months ago but found it to be wasted energy and have been getting the bug to have a planted system again. It has been about 8 years since I had a freshwater tank and I am not to sure if this tank will be good for the project or not. Here is a picture of it:

I built an overflow into the side for good surface skimming but am not to sure this will be usable with a planted tank.

Maybe I can incorporate a canister filter into it somehow? Looking for ideas so feel free to suggest them :)
The tanks dimensions are 47"x25"x12" Should be cool as a shallow rimless planted tank if I can figure out what to do with the overflow.
For the curious minds here is a picture of my 120gal. reef:

I look forward to discussing planted tanks here with you all :)

Howdy and Welcome to MFK! Did you make the tanks all yourself? If so impressive. That last pic looks awesome thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the welcome :)
Yes I built the tank. I build everything.
Any advice on weather the frag tank would make a good planted tank? The more I think on it the more I worry about the overflow setup. I am thinking about MH's btw for the lighting.

Welcome.

The only thing that comes to mind would be the amount of oxygen exchange from the overflow. it might require you to use Co2.

sweeet glad to have you welcome to the mfk side
