Hello everyone. I am a noob to the forum and to fish keeping. A coworker recommended this site to learn about the hobby.

I am looking at getting a 55 or maybe 75 gallon tank for some cichlids. I am taking my time to find a nice tank at a good deal, as well as learning more about what I am getting myself into.

In the meantime, we got a tank for the office. Its a 20 gallon that we picked up for $20 and even has a few fish.

welcome to mfk you'll definitely learn alot here

Hello and Welcome!

I picked up a 55 gal with stand, Whisper 30-60 filter, Millennium 3000 filter, hoods, and lights off craigslist for $75 earlier in the week. I cleaned everything up and put in some pea gravel over the weekend. I am going to add some water tomorrow and get everything level. Now I am just waiting on my heater and air pump to arrive so I can begin to cycle.

I also picked up a Jack Dempsey and will keep him in the 20 gal at work until the other tank is ready. I am thinking about some Tiger Barbs and maybe a catfish or even the pleco at work will join the JD once he is settled in at home. The tank in the office is great, but I find myself getting distracted at times.

word to the whats up
