So Cal
Just received 3 bartonis' at around 2-2.25" this morning and as soon as put them in their 75g, 2 of them immediately darkened up!

It looks like I may have 2 females and 1 male. They are not shy at all and come right up to my face and already ate NLS

These 2 in the back seem to be the male and female I think

Thanks to Duanes for helping me prep for these guys.
They have a lot of room in the 75 and im wondering if I can keep another type of hericthys in there together, perhaps yellow labridens.
Will continue to update pictures

They look good. Another herichthys might be fine in the short term. I don't know about the labs, but I hear they are pretty aggressive. Some dithers might be good.

Thank you
I would rather have some small cichlids rather than dithers, since some other hericthys stay small but are also aggressive can hold their own in the tank. just depends which ones there are like that...
calling Duanes for hericthys info! ;)

I grew my bartoni out with Herichthys carpintus, and they did hold there own until both decided to spawn. I keep my extra (the mated pair have their own tank) bartoni with Madagascan cichlids and they do well, even though the Madagascans are massive in comparison to the bartoni.
Note the little bartoni in the bottom left hand corner.

Check out the notho 2000 (Jim's)video in the African riverine and Madagascar section, he's growing his bartoni out with Etroplus canarensis.

MFK, the bartonis have put on their tuxedos!

These 2 have paired up in pure black and white colors.
They are holding a certain area of the 75 and won't let the other bartoni even close...I think they want to breed
Btw Duanes your inbox is full, wanted to get more tips on the bartonis :)
