new HOB overflow questions

so i just picked it up, and it has a divider in it that runs 3/4 of the way up on inside, almost dividing it into 2 seperate chambers
on the smaller chamber there is a small diameter hole
on the larger chamber there is a larger hole

all of this is how it came from the factory

is the small hole for running an air tube into it to keep it primed?
which chamber should the U tube (that comes over the top, from the tank) go into?

how do i set this up with my wet dry so that i have no problems??
everyone keeps telling me how bad overflows are .... but its too late to drill my tank, so i pretty much have to use it

any help would be appreciated!

If it's a CPR style (1 piece, not the style with the tubes) the small hole on top is for an aqua lifter. You can use one without the aqua lifter, but you'll have to remove air from it every couple of days. Definitely invest in the aqua lifter (be sure to get the filter for it too) and you'll never have any problems with it.

i guess i am not sure what CPR is ... but this is just a basic HOB, no air pumps attached or anything?

these ones have the black plastic peice in them, but mine does not ....
its just basically 2 boxes, and the U over the top ...
my question was about why there are 2 holes instead of just one ... and why it is chambered ...

Can you get a pic of it? If it's the type with the plastic "U" pieces it should only have a hole where the bulkhead fitting goes.

mine does not have the black piece or the pumps like that one
just 2 boxes connected with the U tube over the top

You lost me. That's why I asked if you could get a pic. The diagram doesn't make sense to me and I can't tell if you're saying you have one like what's linked or if it's a different style.

I think you're saying that it's an inside and outside box connected by the "u" shaped tubing.

If that's the case, I'd like to see a pic of the second hole.
