New Hoplias Malabaricus got some tips and advice?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya i learned that within the first hour of having him lol any ideas on how he would do with cory cats?

I saw a picture online somewhere (maybe here) of a tank with a hoplias and a bunch of neon tetras. So keeping them with other fish is possible, but I wouldn't try it. I only kept Satan alone. Don't get fooled, behind that terrifying scowl and those sharp teeth, they can be real pricks. I think that eventually your wolf will eat all of the corys. But I'm willing to bet it could be done by someone with a lot more knowledge and experience than I have. . If I were to try it I would provide a lot of hiding spaces, and never feed the wolf live food.

Here's the picture. It was on this site, but I pulled the image from a Google search. I'm not sure what the outcome was. If you do try I'm interested to know the results

Cory cats will likely be eaten. Big or fully grown wolves may leave alone small fish like neons. They need to be fed and not be hungry. Kind of like flies to elephants. That's the closest analogy I like to think of.

Not good. I will never put Cory's with any aggressive fish. They might not attack but they will scare the hell out of cories. Keep them in a community tank with same species.

Wasn't there a thread on it, don't know if it was here but I be,urge he ate them slowly, he said he wasn't big enough to ignore them yet or something like that.
