New Hydrolycus... Armatus?

A local fishkeeper reached out and said he had a Payara but it hadn't eaten or done well since he got it 3 weeks ago. Didn't charge me for it agreement is if I get it feeding I will pay him.
It doesn't look in great shape so I have put it on its own in a sump chamber with very dim lighting and I will hopefully get it eating sooner rather than later

Forgot to mention ID wise it looks like Armatus doesnt it with that caudal fin? the fish itself is about 4-5"

I put 5 danios in which I am not an advocate for but just to check it had a feeding response and to get some food in it to work from. Its in a sump chamber that has loads of flow and air in
I tried some frozen lancefish last night and as it was a floaty one it kept on bobbing about in the flow near the armatus. It made moves to strike it a couple of times but didnt eat it in the 15 mins I watched. Positive though and I will keep doing that till it eventually eats fingers crossed

That's the initial and biggest hurdle. Once it eats fingers crossed, it should be fairly simple to switch it to uncrossed fingers and then eventually onto frozen fish and pellets.

Well its eating 4 days in a row now its smashing frozen lancefish. Initially just the tails for some odd reason but now any piece of lancefish that goes in
Onwards and upwards now hopefully
