I think most people on here were joking about keeping a few of these iggys for pets but there are people on this site that own very rare animals, some of which are endangered in the wild. Why? Because they are very serious and dedicated to these animals and keeping and breeding them is very important to the survival of these species. The people who have access to obtaining endangered animals are not your typical "Joe Schmo", they have years of experience on the matter and some are the best chance of survival for some of these rare species. Just remember that not everyone looks at these animals as "Pets". I for one have come to the conclusion that if I'm going to keep anymore herps, it's to breed and continue the species even if they are common like my leopard geckos or becoming rarer in the wild like my Eastern Box Turtles. Most if not all of these individuals feel the same way. If more and more people start breeding these animals and areas are dedicated for these animals to live, then they have a fighting chance of not becoming another extinct species. Also if you breed them in captvity then you don't have to harvest them from the wild for the pet trade.
