Yeah. I just changed to black substrate and my NGT has darkened up a bit but only in the face.
I used to have it to where my driftwood would sit up so my dat could go under it and it just caused him more stress cause my endlis, laps and tigrinus would all stuff under there too.
But sometimes they will hide elsewhere but seeing they really aren't considered juvies you shouldn't have that problem. Besides you want to see your fish.
