"we" have different opionons on how to raise fish.......ya that is the first thing i think i can agree with you on.
now having said that your ideas result in dead fish, silver arowana point in case. MY IDEAS on raising fish end up with record growths and healthy fish. my current arowana is proof of that yours, dead after ick and others, mine 3" growth in 16 days. take the leasons you are getting without asking and you may find yourself with a large happy fish in your tank.

my aro got ick prolly jan or feb of 2011. it grew healthy and beautiful..got pics on my old thread prove of that, my aro died due to an accident of my filter sock which was like a 2-3 weeks ago and was about 26 inches. that is about 1 1/2 year time gap incase you didnt know.
you proud of your aro grow quick while a 6th grader can do the same too?
