And delgado, what would a "large" cricket be in terms of size? Only one size at lfs :)

One question tho...do I put the cricket alive in there, or dead? Cause so far with live crickets she does not seem to think it looks very good...

first Q- about an inch is large

second Q- doesent really matter

mine like the live better over dead though see did take both

live one's struggle to swim and excite an aro more :)

hey try this, an aro shouldnt be able to resist this, i know mine didnt :D

your #1 goal should be to get her on commercial food

heres a tip with the cricket

feed the crickets the food sticks( soak them first, so the crickets can get the extra moisture and eat them easier) and baby carrots!!!!

the extra carinoid (spelling) should greatly enhance the pinks and red coloration in your aro

Ah good advice, makes sense! Thanks bud...

don't worry if your aro won't eat right away, some won't eat for weeks but still come out ok.

try cutting up some shrimp into small pcs (1/4" cubes) and freeze them for at least 24 hrs. when it is frozen and dried enough, it would float, hence giving your baby aro enough time to eat it before sinking to the bottom of your tank.

good luck

im not sure that would be a good idea

just drop it in from of it's face 1 piece at a time, it only take a single gulp to eat a peice of food

the aro could have a hard time eating the hard frozen shrimp cube

plus "fresh" shrimp cubes are better, more nutrients are preserved that way.

just my 2 cents

My baby jardini i got about 1.5 weeks ago started eatting about the 3rd-4th day. She would swallow the food stick, chew it up, and spit it back out. But on the 5th day, i think she was just too hungry and ate it with a passion.

Now once i drop the food stick in the water - its gone just like that. :)

No worries.. just keep trying!

Hey update! She finally ate a cricket this morning. She swam around a couple times then whack! So i'll keep feeding her this this week, and will try the shrimps I give my other fish. I'll also order the sticks this week as they don't have those at my lfs...

Looks like she settled in fairly easily :) Thanks all for your advices, really appreciated!

sharing from experience Bro...I am still feeding my community of 6 golden crossbacks, 3 super reds & 1 hbrtg this way. when arowanas are more settled and grabs the food more readily , fresh food can be fed.

maybe you are lucky that your silver took food readily after you brought it home, but everybody is not as lucky as you are. when your fish doesn't eat readily, it is a very different story.. btw, where do you buy fresh shrimps that are never previously frozen? very hard to find here in Canada.
