Thats the coolest plec in my opinion that i have ever seen!!!!! awesome!!!:headbang2 :D

Thanks for looking and your comments. I was hoping that I got a good deal. I don't see the tooth figured in the Aqualog book but the body, color and finnage look the same. Do these like shrimp and fish? What is the tooth for? The full name is Leporacanthicus sp. aff galaxias. What does aff mean? And what is all the text that says first L240 changed to L245?

That's a great one! Really like the colors.

Indeed; but the L system isn't really even a taxonomic classificatory system; it's based purely on outer appearance with an emphasis on pattern. Anyways, aff. = affin., which means that the animal is similar to its quoted species but not synonymous, as opposed to cf, or confer. Also, the teeth are used for biting, as it does when it bites off pieces of sponge and/or small inverts (think midges, shrimp, etc.) when feeding.

and yea prawn is a good thing to feed them, as much as all the other protein foods, a lot are mentioned in the pleco diet thread. Always good to try and keep it as balanced as possible too.

Very nice!
