I cut the claypot, so it wouldn't be as open. Went in it once, but likes to hide behind plants

The pot might just be too big for the little guy. Try the flat clay disks that have a slight lip. use two glued together and cut a whole.

they like there territory/hidey holes with other plecs about, they stay in there to make sure no one can have it (guarding it), and so rarely coming out.

I got a king pleco about 1 month ago, for $30

then, later I got a gold nugget for $20,

I agree with rasdbo...i wish i could get those prices! Is it hard to keep GN's? I asked my LFS and they said they stopped carrying them because they kept dying...probably bad supplier or batch? Any info?
