new L-128

The L200 L# is split into two different species. Hemiancistrus subviridis, and baryancistrus dematoides, b. dematoides is the high fin varient in your avatar. The color dictates alot about the location of the fish. The farther north the more black the L128 will be, and the farther south the more blue-green they become. For L200s from grayish green all the way to a mustard yellow. I started a thread back there somewhere that has all that information; I'll try to find it and post it up. As to spots, they are just like human finger prints, no two are alike. I recently lost an L200 that only had 8 fully developed spots on his body, and he was 5.5" long. You can find that in the Breeding L200s thread. I'll link you to that specific fish in a second.

Well the article that had the information on the different color morphs of the L200s, and L128s is gone. Planetcatfish took it down. Unfortunate it was a great article.

yeah, i believe i've read that before. just couldnt remember exactly how the color varied from north to south. mine looks a little lighter than the pic makes him out. i've seen darker ones and i've seen lighter ones i would say this one is somewhere in the middle. that also makes sense about the spots. thid one did stand out to me because he had alot of spots but your right it wasnt realy like they had one pattern or another all of the ones i had to choose from where different.

more northern, or further up the river, the L128s are really black colour, getting lighter and lighter and more sky blue the further towards the south. also the spots tend to get fewer and larger, but it is very variable depending towards the individual. theres a not so great article on planetcatfish as 'catfish of the month'

Yeah, that is the one! Wierd I looked for it yesterday, and the link was removed by planetcatfish... hmm
