I moved him to the tank and removed all fish excpet the pleco (hes moving soon). He looks much more happy and active compared to when i got him. Here is the tank with no decorations or plants to give him more space. What do you guys think. Should he be happy for a little while in this tank? He seems much more active. Also do you guys think he is actually a black? Im almost positive but this can be tricky.

Excuse the dirty glass, he was splashing.

seeing alittle red on the gill area i say hes a red bellie

or was :grinno:

how long you think he'll be in there? hopefully not too long

But look closley, his bottom portion is jet black. Moth red bellies at his size are still silver in color though loosing the red coloration. He will be in hear for a week or two max until I can find the 300g Rubber Maid Koi Holder im looking for. Does this seem okay? Is it too small for him? He seems happy and is active and even follows me around the room already! He is just big enought to make a perfect even turn in the tank.

yay! a week or two will be A-ok :D

he still seems like a red bellie

not all are the same

some have black bellies too, but i do see orange in the chest and anal fin area

besides black pacus are pretty uncommon fish

im almost sure its a red bellie

Red belly or not I love this guy! Hes already eating like a hog! I got dog food sized cichlid pellets that im feeding him:

He really seems to love his new home, even though quite small. How old would you guys guess he is? Im thinking he may be wild caught.

Im excited and nervous, excuse so many post :P

Some people said the tank is extremley too small for his size. Honestly now; is this okay for him for the time being? He can turn easily and its more than double his body length.

only temperary he is ok in there for now

they **** alot so watch out for that, big Water changes are important

i had a red bellie at one time

i gave him half a bag of salad one day and the next day i found it pre digested.............. :swear:

he is indeed a nice looking fish :)

Thank you, i just want the best for him. Im going o perform daily %10 water changes like I do with all of my fish. I removed the pleco from the aquarium. The pacu kept swimming up to him just starting at him with one eye, that is larger than the plecos head and the pleco started freaking out. I love this guy :)

Im wondering why you are still the only person replying to this topic....?

I just received a reply from another member at another forum who said they gurantee its a black, and he is just showing some juvenile color. Im thinking a black as well. You guys think i should add my two smaller RB Pacu to the tank (pictured one above). I heard pacus are only happy with other of their own kind.
