New Life Spectrum poo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's what I thought at first, the offenders have all been fished out and treated. The display tank has also been salt and temperature treated, and it's running an UV light. This has been going on for almost a year, none of the offending fish shows any signs of stress or diease other than the floating poo sticks as you called it. All newily introduced larger plecos display the same anti-gravity poo the within days they were introduced into the tank.

The record so far is a foot long floating poo string from the 10~11" L190 .....

My goldfish poop floats sometimes. I wonder if it's the food, I am going to start and keep track.

will this thread make it to the top mysteries list of mfk?
;-)

maybe it has something to do with the wood they're eating in that tank.

They started with Malaysian driftwood, then added manzanita driftwood, recently removed all but couple pieces of Mayasian and added 1 huge manzanita driftwood. All same thing, floaters. And it's happening to the carnivores as well.

My plecos never had stringy poo. Although I fed them mostly spinach, kale and small bits of shrimp or earthworm. They would steal pellets from time to time. They did poop a lot, but not like that.

Your poo floats sometimes too. It's no big deal as far as health goes. Just gassy poo.

has 100% of the wood ever been changed out to different pieces?
all inhabitants may possibly nibble on anything in the tank.
figuring out the cause requires thorough process of elimination tests with each food, the plants, wood, etc..
It is something in that tank that's not in your other tanks.
have you also switched production batches of nls and tried regular formula too, not Thera-A?

Only 1 piece of old infested driftwood left. It's infested with 6~7 clown loaches and 2 imperial flower loach (leptobotia elongata) that refuses to come out. No matter how hard I try, can't get rid of the infestation. The only tanks that piece would fit have fish that will swallow them whole if they come out. It's too big for other more "peaceful" tanks. I had 3 buckets of the Thera A. The 3rd bucket is almost gone, that's why I started shopping for new food and tried ken's food.

I am starting to think perhaps it's the combo of nls and shrimp that's causing it... The fish are all healthy, it's just not a pleasant sight, especially seeing them hanging from the aro's mouth, and a PIA to suck out everyday.
