i would use flakes as staple supplemented with pellets for protein and live feeders twice a month.... throw in some beef heart krill seaweed maybe even tubifex or blood worms as u feal necessary as treats or some extra protein staple should always have algea involved and spirulina is like a super vitamin very very healthy stuff and helps digestion i preech the algea spiru flake its been the best thing ive found for store bought food ever.... lol along with new life of course

I love NLS ;)

Why worry about putting algae in the food, why not just let algae grow and have your fish eat it lol? That's what I do and the green poop is proof that they like to munch on it :p. Seems like a waste of money to me lol.

for the helpful input. ive used it exclusively for a month and i must say my fish tear it up. i also saw a more vivid coloration on my fish. i like d it so much i got some of the 6mm large fish formula for the "monster fish tank". they arent as receptive to it as they are the gold or frozen krill. :D one question. it says to feed exclusively but what about variety such as treats, worms, krill, etc?

Personally, I tried using that method of just NLS for a while, but I feel more comfortable mixing up the diet while still using NLS as the staple. I wouldn;t give up on feeding krill, worms, and all that good stuff altogether.

thats what i thought thanks;)

Feed the NLS exclusively until your fish get used to it then you can start to mix things up, that's what I do with any new fish. Usually fish take a while to switch to new foods, especially since most stores feed cheap flake which very few who take the time to post on fish forums do. Once they're on it though it's no problem to feed some variety.
