So I picked up a Volt Lion a few days ago (approx 5 I believe) and he hasn't eaten anything yet. I realize this seems to be a comon problem from my reading, but this seems different. I attempted to feed him small live goldfish on Saturday with no sucess. He doesn't seem interested in the bloodworms, shrimp, and occasional clams his tankmates enjoy.

The thing that worried me is that first, after only like 2 days of having him, one of his eyes hazed over. I am attempting to treat it with melafix or w/e its called.

Then today he was kinda floating at the top, but would swim down occasionally. I haven't seem him do that before and that had me a bit worried. Unfortunatley I am in class till 4 and can't to anything until then. Any ideas of what to do when I get home?

I have no idea what my ammonia levels are, but I treat all my water with stresscoat and change the water weekly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I spent about an hour aclimating him. He seemed fine for the first few days, very active and curious. The tank has a few hiding spots, not a ton though. I can't get live feeder shrimp here as both my lfs don't sell them.

is the tank cycled? how long has it been set up? you should definitely have some way of knowing your ammonia, etc levels. Go out and buy a test kit asap. Cloudy eyes are a product of either injury of bad water quality. How big is the tank, how big is he, and what are the tankmates?

Ok, so what I did was transfer rougly half of the water from my 45 gallon to my newer 55 gallon. Then I added the rest. The tank has live rock and live sand in it. The water I put in had been running for a good 8-10 months. The water and fish had been in the new tank for rougly 2 weeks before I bought the lion.

Currently, the tank has:
3 GSP's (1 small, 2 almost full grown)
2 Archer Fish (1 approx 5" and 1 3")
1 Niger Trigger (3.5" rougly)

The Lion is only about 3-4 inches.

the old water doesn't mean anything. you need seeded biomedia. plus the tank is overstocked! check your parameters, they probably aren't too good!

seeded biomedia....such as the liverock???

I don't think the tank is overstocked. It may sound like it is, but the fish are fine and have lived in much smaller tanks prior to this one.

However, I will pick up a test kit and take a peek at the parameters this evening sometime.

Tested the amonia....looks like zero to me (yellow on the salt scale)
Tested the PH, which is 7.8

Anyone have some ideas, he looks like he's on his last leg. I just tried to feed him f/d krill with no sucess. He didn't go for the goldfish I just put in either.

OH THE HUMAITY!!!

His fins on the bottom seem kinda shrively/droopy compared to when I got him as well. Its like they are turning black.

HELP! It doesn't look good right now, so anything you can do to help will be appreciated. It would royally suck, esp. since he was $50...:irked:

he looks like he has cloudy eyes in the picture....are they cloudy or is it just a weird illusion??? also looks like he is very very thin. was the fish eating at all at the LFS??? cause i will tell you if the fish had been eating well and was healthy, just 5 days of not eating would not have brought him to that thin of a body weight. chances are he was never in great shape....bad eggs happen (stress from shipping, internal parrasites that cant be seen, and so on) - its up to the LFS to keep from passing that on to the hobbyist. live food would be the trick, if thats not working now - just keep your water in pristeen shape and hope for the best.
