Nice fish. They are ambush predators so they tend to lerk in and around the rocks. What species is it?

i think its a volitan, i just fed it a freshwater feeder but i heard that they are really bad for lions so im just gonna try market shrimp. it'll probably take a couple days of starving it.

If nothing else works mine love ghost shrimp i feed them marine flake food for a day or two then feed him them untill i can get him to take frozen food.Nice lion i really like mine!!!

Volitan in a 30? You had better start shopping for a bigger tank now. I bought mine at 2-3" last March and he is already almost 8"+. I have him in a 75 and within this year he may have to go to a bigger tank.

You may also want to try frozen silversides. The lion i used to have loved that stuff.

Awesome looking lionfish! You are going to want to move him as soon as you can afford so that he can stretch out his finnage and be happy. Like everyone said, don't feed goldfish, if you have to feed live, feed shrimp. Otherwise try frozen silversides and shrimps and fish pieces. Just don't feed oily fish because it messes up the water and make sure to skim the water as well.

You can try using frozen prawns uncooked. I have experince with 4 of them at present and they are loving the frozen prawns soaked in garlic. just rip the prawn into sections and they will go nuts over them. Very friendly fish just don't let them sting you! I love the pic of the one in the 75! You should crop the tank and have just him its a great angle!
