hi all. I'm not usually a Catfish person but having seen pictures of Liosomadoras oncinus i added them to the list of fish i would like for my SA community. This was some months ago and having found just how hard to come by they are i decided it was unlikely i would find one.

Well roll on today and i popped to one of my LFS to see if they had had anything interesting in and was about to leave, having found nothing of interest when out the corner of my eye i spotted a 6" Liosomadoras oncinus and immediately bought it. The markings are stunning however he/she had obviously been in the wars as it's barbels were quite short and it had torn up fins. None the less, i bought it (with a little discount :naughty:) and here are the pics (i must add that they are bag shots as i knew that it would disappear quite quickly into the tank).

I'm really pleased to have found one and they are stunning fish.

:D

Lucky you! Nice jaguar. If you dont mind me asking, what was the price tag in the uk?

nice!

thanks chaps.

They are relatively expensive over here- it was up for £50.00 but i managed to negotiate it down to £40.00 due to it's injuries. Doesn't realy bother me wther or not i paid over the odds as it's a nice fish.

I did mean to ask; i have heard they prefer cooler temperature but what is the upper level temp they prefer?

thats good to know. I run my tank at that sort of temps but there was a couple of posts that said closer to 74 and at warmer temps they don't feed. I guess only time will tell.

Thanks again.

well despite only being introduced today, he/she is out and about exploring with it's adoring geophagus fans in tow- they just seem to follow it round the tank. It's quite funny to watch but every time i go for a picture the cat stops and the Geo's disperse.
