Salminus franciscanus then, and a very fair price. Brasiliensis (confusingly) lives in Argentina. Brasiliensis is the species that is the senior synonym for maxillosus. The fish you have is still a Golden Dorado, though. Franciscanus was recognized as a separate specimen and described only in 2009. They're very closely related akin to the vatf/tatf relationship.

Are you 100% sure that your tarpon are Atlantic? Because the wholesalers have had Indo-Pacific tarpon in recent weeks....at 4" (I got one a few weeks ago)...and I believe it's illegal to possess Atlantics (especially without a tarpon permit). At least I believe that's the case here in Florida.

These are certainly the Atlantic species. I imported them myself from Africa.
