Thanks you guys i just put in another piece of driftwood and a fake alligator head along with alot of fake plants it looks wonderful and i can tell the fish like it alot too. The fish have claimed their own spots were they mostly stay, and my bumblebee is calm now thank you so much. All of my fish are about two inches long ( the aratus and bumblebee's. And wait they are vegitarians? I have been feeding them only pellets for the last two days should i be feeding them sliced cucumber or somthing?? Thanks in advance.

Should i put the male arautus in my 55gal tank with one 17 inch oscar and 1ft
pleco for a while? would it calm him down?!

He would most likely be eaten by the 17 inch oscar that's in the 55 gal tank... :WTF:

So, technically it would calm him down...

lol i guess so but i would have gave him a cave to hide in plus i would feed the oscar till he couldnt eat anymore before i put the aruatus in.

I just looked at all of my fishfood none of them had spirulina could i just feed them some cucumber or orther vegtable until thrusday? ( thats when im going to my lfs its two hours away so i only go once a week )

With sufficient hiding spots, a 180 should be plenty of room for any 2" Malawi fish to get along... even mean ones.

I generally steer folks away from both of these species when they post up looking for stocking advise on a small tank... 55 or less. I would think that a 180 would be able to house groups of both of these bruiser fish, even long term.

If you have aspirations of eventually breeding them, I would get rid of the driftwood and replace it with rocks. Drift wood will make your water soft and acidic.... the opposite of what these fish require.

My water here is already really high in ph and hard. The fish like it so far but ill take your advice and switch it with rock when they get a little bigger because they can swim through the driftwood and i can tell they enjoy it. And do you know if obsidian would be ok to put in there? As i can get alot of it for nothing.

If you can get your hand on some texas holy rock it works great. It can be pricy at the pet store. I get it for a dollar a pound. It helps to keep ph high too. You can feed them vegetables they love them. A good one is romaine lettuce. You can boil it if they are having a hard time eating it. That will make it softer. Although it takes some if the nutrients out. Omega One makes a veggie flake that is good. It has spirulina and kelp.
