Oh I forgot when I first got him he had swim bladder problem he was side ways at the top for 2 weeks. I gave him some meds 3 1/2 gal water changes every day now he looks like a champ. Everyday my girl friend keep yelling trow him away he's dead! I kept saying if he's trying to stay alive and fighting lets see where this goes.

Much respect for keeping with him. They are on my list of future fish to keep again

Most spinal issues are genetic, since GTs have been kept and bred for decades in the hobby, and been bred brother/sister/mother/father so long, it is not out of the ordinary.
I have seen Mayans while snorkeling in the brackish cenotes of the Yucatan of Mexico at over 1 ft in length, although these cenotes very deep, one large male would go from the surface to 50ft in seconds.
I have also seen them in very shallow, pure salt water in the mangrove area of Isla de Mujeres, but also in total fresh water.
Mine bred in a 150gal community tank, and raised plenty of fry, without becoming deadly to the other inhabitants.
Yours looks like a very healthy specimen, with very nice color.
