Im collecting fish(mbuna) in my smaller tanks now to go into my 125g when I set it up in a few weeks.Looking to do a few breeding groups that wont interbreed.so far I have Labeotropheus trewavasae (Mpanga) and cynotilapia afra (galileo)Im thinking salusi and one or two other groups.Am I ok so far? and what else might go without me ending up with a bunch of hybrids. Thanks!
I might be able to get Ps. Msobo Mang
Cyn. Afra San Sanga
Ps. Elongatus " Ussiya "
And am open to any other suggestions

When you buy your fish try to get 1-2 females with a male. A male will not cross-breed if he has a female of his own. I have numerous fish in my tanks, 40 species spread over three tanks, and I have not had cross-breeding occur.
Ps elongatus mpanga is really nice to have in a tank. Any of the Ps zebra long pelvics give great colour to a tank. Tropheops are also a nice addition. Metriaclima callainos gives a great blue colour to the tank. Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos maingano is another great fish to add as it gives a good dark blue colouring. Good luck and post some pics once stocked.

Thanks for this info. You just settled a bet between me and the idiot at PetCo.

A male left without a female will tend to disrupt the other fish breeding as it chases everyhting when some other female is ready to breed. They tend to become rather aggressive as well, especially if the fish in question is one of the biggest in the tank.
