My sen was the same way with the heater (in a way). but mine (i call curvine) started to want more heat. so he would dismount my heater and play with it from there. But with the ich problem i had that happen to but with mine i caught it a little earlier. Mine was so underdeveloped i just cranked up the heat a couple degrees and it went away almost over night.

I'm not sure it was ich. It was more cottony leading me to believe something fungal. No other fish contracted anything

Appreciate this might be a tad late, however if any cottony growths appear like that on your fish again use Primafix. Superb stuff that doesn't affect the good bacteria as its all natural. Sorry for your losses mate

So what if it is all natural. Remember, bleach is all natural (chlorine, a base element) and I wouldn't put that in my tank.

Are you really comparing BLEACH to an anti fungal treatment I have recommended? Seriously mate if you've not got anything more constructive to say keep it down. As if I'm going to suggest a damaging liquid. You may want to check it out before you retort

pimafix and melafix are both very potent anti bacterial/fungal treatments and generally not safe for airbreathers as they leave a film at the top that ingested in large amounts is lethal... that being said i do use it on airbreathers with extreame caution and in much lower doses then reccomended.

no not the same as bleach, but potentially just as dangerous. on a side note.. pure ammonia is great for cycleing a tank... and much cheaper then useing " instant" cycle products which imo are useless. But i prefer useing a few pellets or other food to cycle a new tank. or adding a cycled filter to a new tank/ setup and cycleing the new filter off the old... ect... Cycles are called this for a reason... no such thing as an instant cycle.. you still get mini cylces if not tended properly can put to back to square one.

Agreed, individual choice for dosage is key. Have had good results with it, however I am loath to use anything in the water unless necessary. Let the filter do its thing

I guess I should have expanded on my thoughts. I wouldn't use the stuff, it is dangerous. No offense intended, but yes I was comparing to bleach.

None taken mate, respect your experience. I've had good results with it however I don't like adding stuff to the water, generally like to let the filter work it's stuff.

Water changes and great filtration cure most ills. I wouldn't treat new water if I didn't have to. :WHOA:
