Florida!
Alright, well I have known about this site for a while but never had anything 'monster'. I know 75 gallons is not very monster either, first time I will be getting bigger fish than tetras and barbs. First, some background info: I am the marine curator at a science center here in FL, and have been keeping tanks since I was young enough to understand them. I have a 55 planted tank and a 45 reef at home. I maintain the tanks at work, including a 600g touch tank, 4 90g tanks, a 125 and various others. I just got this 75, and don't really have a plan for it yet. I was thinking about a south american biotope or possibly a african tank. It is filtered by a decent sized sump that can be upgraded if necessary. Lighting for now is also just decent, 2 40watt strips. I also got a very cool moon light with the tank. It has leds in a row mounted on a strip. Ok, enough talk, I have pictures!

This next one shows it full, with various plants to seed it. The pots were just thrown in for no apparent reason. Still debating what substrate to use....

Here is the moon light, I didn't adjust the exposure on my camera so it seems very bright. In reality is casts a light blue shimmer down in the tank.

Nice setup, how about some pics of work?

Thanks. The only picture I could find of work is one that shows half of the room, with the touch tank in the picture. I will take some pics tomorrow of the other tanks if I get a chance.

This was the only picture I could find of my job. It only shows half of the marine room and doesn't really show the touch tank well...I will get some more tomorrow if I can remember my camera. Thanks for the comments!

One question I do have is about substrate. I am not sure if I want to do sand or larger gravel...I have used sand before but never with larger fish. I also can't imagine siphoning sand? Anyways, I will put some small fish in tomorrow or the next day when I figure out the substrate dilema.

^^^ Agreed^^^ pics from work would be sweet if you can. and welcome.

lol as soon as a finished typing and posted you had a pic allready...... you're good.

:welcome: That'll be a fun tank to play around with.

Well I decided on regular gravel as my substrate. I figured it would be easy enough to clean and doesn't look too bad. I am probably going to take out the rocks in the back because I'm not doing an african cichlid tank and it looks awful. Also, the plants are just in there to seed it and help with the break in process. Here it is:

Yeah, sorry for the double post. I didn't think the first one went through, so I made a new one...Is there a way to edit or delete on these forums? I'm new to the moderator approval thing.

I believe you only have about 20-30 minutes to edit your post. Look for your post you want to edit. on the bottom right side of the post it will ask if you want to edit. After 20-30 minutes, your post will not be able to edit. Hope this helps, The Doctor.
